Ahhh Chagos. Finally, finally we come to you. Chagos was one of the top three reasons we put The Best Odyssey together in the first place. In the past 15 years I've run across a handful of sailors who have visited this lonely archipelago. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM said Chagos was the best spot BAR NONE of their world tour. Why? Well we'll have to go there and see but I imagine the fact that the only way to get there is by sailing yacht; its location in the middle of the Indian Ocean (and a long ways from anything else); abundant fish; pristine coral; and solid surf might be part of it.

Unfortunately what likely makes Chagos so great is also what makes it very hard for us logistically. Once we get there we can't get provisions (well other than plenty of fish and fruit!), and we can't go back. As it's right on the equator we won't likely be doing a lot of kiting but if you're up for one of the greatest adventures of all time get on board. Oh, and you'll be staying on for the next trip, as well as the one after (30 days total!) down to Reunion unless you have a friend who can fly a helicopter a LONG ways and can get a permit to land! For those paragliding pilots in the group- we'll definitely be the first to paraglide over the turquoise lagoons and wide expanses of white sand beaches!
